The reviews are correct. If you don’t move forward with their repairs you’re going to pay $150 for a diagnostic that would be free anywhere else. And since their quote was $2400 for spark plugs, a lightbulb, and a torn axle boot ($350 part), I was not going to agree to a $2400 repair. So I was charged $150 for the diagnostic and $150 for an oil change on a $10,000 car. Pretty disappointing for a community member.
Good morning Mrs., Zirschky, Thank you for your input. We were very honest and transparent with you. We have left you voice mails, email and text and are waiting to hear back so we can work on where we did not do a great job with our communications during your last service of your 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan. We ask that after reading our response to your one star review you realize that we provided a great deal of value and saved you from having to buy an engine for the car. Please read to the bottom before making a final decision. You did approve $300.00 for the testing, inspections, recovery tank cap the 4.9 quarts of oil and the oil filter. The final bill was $291.93 with tax. The testing and inspection time we used to identify, document and report back the results of the testing and inspection. For your vehicle is was discovered to have many data trouble codes with two critical codes with for the camshaft position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance 34100/008330 and a brake systems code 02214002 for the tire pressure monitoring system. A parts store could use a scanner to retrieve some of this information for free, but without the higher level of equipment, training and the several hours that were required for a technician to retrieve the factory data trouble codes and them sort them all out to report what is critical and what are older or non-safety, non-active codes and how they are associated with each other without guessing. The camshaft position sensor is a critical code, The brakes systems code was a warning for a “tire pressure warning lower limit reached” (simply put the tires needed to be and were aired up). Other codes 00956 for an ignition key issue (may be a low battery on your other key fob, that we did not have to test) a code for 01519 for a back up light open circuit that was also tested and looks to be a failed bulb. Also, there is a radio data trouble code/ telematics communication codes B149AF0 an B1788FO as well. For the two most important codes in your car one being the tire low was of course simple to fix. The camshaft position data trouble code had the technician test the wires, the sensor, and the computer as well as other components that are a part of this system. One thing that can affect this is low oil pressure from the engine. Your cars engine that holds 4.9 quarts of oil was found to be 3.4 quarts LOW on oil. While testing your vehicle also communicated a dash “warning of low oil pressure and to shut off the engine” We paused testing to drain out and measure the oil that was left if the engine (only 1.5 quarts of oil) and then refilled to the proper level of 4.9 quarts of oil and replaced the oil filter then continued the testing. The results were the perimeters for setting the camshaft position code were no longer present while having the car operate and the final test driven. We were VERY HONEST and transparent that this is where the testing should stop and no other parts replaced for this data trouble code. We also tested and found no active oil leaks only slow seepage for a car that is 9 years old and has 135,000 miles on it. As for the remaining work that was recommended that was declined by you for the backup light bulb parts and the labor to replace it, the state inspection, the Spark plugs parts and labor, the fuel systems cleaning parts and labor and the replacing of a drive axle parts and labor all do add up. I am sure you can find someone to do work for less, but is their warranty good? What level of parts do they use? How long will it take them do get you back in your car? Are they helpful with the amenities to help keep you moving while the work is being done? Our service would also have come with the 4 years/ 40,000-mile parts and labor warranty, pick up and delivery service or loaner cars or both when requested all for your complete satisfaction. Thank you for hearing our side of things, we appreciate your time. I also attached the report here also. https://tinyurl.
